Objective
The objective of this tutorial is to help you understand how to assign staff from other positions to a shift.
Overview
In the Shift Edit Window in the New Shiftplanning, managers and schedulers have the option to assign employees from other positions to the shift. That is when they need to ensure instant coverage on the shifts when regularly assigned employees are not available.
Access from your: Computer
Applies to: Managers & Supervisors.
Things to know before you begin:
You must have manager/admin, supervisor access privileges to assign staff from other positions.
Schedulers are only able to assign employees from the positions they manage.
Assigning Staff from Other Positions to Shifts
Step 1: Click the ‘ShiftPlanning’ tab from the top panel as shown in Image 1.

Step 2: Create a shift or click on an existing desired shift to open the shift edit window as shown in Image 2.

Step 3: In the Shift Edit Window, click ‘Staff from other Positions’ and then select an employee from the drop-down list as shown in Image 3.

Step 4: As soon as an employee is assigned, you have to publish it to notify them.
You can either 'Update' the shift or 'Update & Republish' as shown in Image 4.
