[NEW] Requesting to Pick Up a part of Open Shift

After an Open Shift is published, Employee(s) who are eligible can now submit a partial shift request.

Objective

The objective of this tutorial is to help you understand how you will request just a part of an Open Shift.

Overview

Access from your: Computer
Applies to: Managers, Supervisors, Scheduler, and Employees

Having the option to request just a part of the whole shift gives you more flexibility when you pick what shift you can work.

Things to know before you begin:

  1. Open Shifts are created by your manager. If created then only you will receive a notification to fill it up.

  2. Open Shifts are created for a single position, you can not request an Open Shift from another position.

  3. Partial Open Shift Pick-Up functionality needs to be turned on by your Admin or Manager.

  4. The minimum partial shift duration, that can be requested, is defined by your Admin or Manager.

Requesting to Pick Up a part of Open Shift

Step 1: Click "Dashboard" tab from the top panel > Click on the "Available Shifts" widget to enter "Pickup Shifts" screen > Click on the "Review Request" button next to the shift you want to request, as shown on Image 1.

Step 2: Click on the time selection dropdown menu to pick either time from the beginning or from the end of that shift, you can't request a partial slot in the middle of the Open Shift > Select how many hours you want to work, as shown in Image 2.

Note: The minimum partial shift duration, that can be requested, can't be shorter than what is set on the company level.

Step 3: Optionally you can leave a note to provide any additional context to accompany your partial shit request, as shown in Image 3.

Step 3: To send your partial Open Shift request just click on the big green button that will also display the number of hours that you have requested, as shown in Image 4.

Note 1: Submitted partial request can be in the pending status (if in your company manager manually approves requests). While it is in pending status, you can cancel the request or edit it by changing the time length or editing the note.

Note 2: You can submit only one request per Open Shift, no matter if it's a partial or full request.

Note 3: In case your partial request gets rejected and that Open Shift is still not staffed yet, it is possible to choose a different time interval than the one for which was rejected and submit another request.
