Create a Shift

Learn how to create a schedule for your staff using your Android device.

Objective

The objective of this tutorial is to help you understand how to create a shift on your Android device.

Overview

Access from your: Android device

Applies to: Admin/Managers, Supervisors, and Schedulers

Create a schedule for your staff using your Android device anytime while being on the go.

Things to know before you begin:

  1. You must have a manager, supervisor, or scheduler access privileges in Humanity to create, edit, and delete shifts. 

  2. Schedulers can manage shifts and shift templates for their assigned positions only.

  3. You can navigate the schedule for different dates by clicking the arrows found at the top mid of the app.

The scenario outlined in this tutorial consists of the following building blocks:

  1. Create A Shift

  2. Create A Recurring Shift

Create a Shift

You must be logged in to your humanity account to follow the steps below:

Step 1: Under ShiftPlanning module, navigate to the timeline that you need > Tap Plus (+) icon from the bottom-right corner to create a shift, as shown in Image 1.

Note: Shift parameters are as follows.

  • Shift Start Day and  Date

  • Shift End Day and  Date

  • Position

  • Remote Location

  • Title

  • Notes

  • Lock shift duration to 'n' hours 'n' min.

Step 2: Define shift parameters as per your requirement > Tap Save & Continue tab, as shown in Image 2.

Step 3: Scroll down and tap on Employees > Tap on the employee name you need to assign to the shift  > Tap on Done once you have completed the employee assignment, as shown in Image 3.

Step 4: Tap on the Open Slot option or Advanced Options to define further shift parameters > Select Done to save the changes you have made using these parameters, as shown in Image 4.

Note 1: Advanced options are as follows.

  • Repeat options

  • On-call 

  • Tasks

Step 5: Tap Publish to select your publishing and notification option, as shown in Image 5.

Note: The assigned employee won’t be able to see the shift or be notified until you Publish it.

Create A Recurring Shift

Step 1: To create a Recurring Shift tap on Advanced Options > Repeat Options. Select the given parameters as per the business requirements. 

  • Repeat options > Select repeat frequency

  • Repeat until

Options

  • Shift time only

  • With employees

Select Done to save changes made for the shift, as shown in image 6.
