If you are having trouble after setting up time clock locations and terminals, follow the steps in this article to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Things to know before you begin:

  1. You must have a manager or admin access privileges to perform some troubleshooting steps in this article.
  2. If you have a Supervisor, Scheduler or an Employee level access, you’ll have to ask for help from your Manager when you get to those steps.

“Time clock location is set up but employees are still able to clock in from mobile”

Possible Cause: Related settings are disabled by Manager under Settings Module > Time Clock tab > Advanced Settings > Time Clock Settings section >  Lock time-clocking to specified locations.

Solution: Ask your ‘Manager’ to enable the setting as shown in Image 1 and your employees would not be able to clock in from any other devices other than the time clock locations you are created.

“Time clock location is set up and lock time-clocking is enabled but employees are still able to clock in from mobile”

Possible Cause: Manager has created a time clock location base on IP address. Any device that is connected to the Wi-Fi of that IP address would be able to clock in.

Solution: In order to avoid this, the manager would need to delete the time clock location that is based on IP address and make them computer based  as shown in image 2.

“Invalid terminal error”

Possible Causes:

  1. If IP based terminal: Our software works with Static IP. Dynamic IPs keep on fluctuating hence, this error occurs when the IP of the Wi-Fi has been reset.

Solution: The time clock location and terminal need to be deleted and recreate it as shown in image 3.

   2. If Computer-based: This method is preferred as it uses a COOKIE which is stored         securely on the computer. If the employees are using a different computer to log          in or a different browser on the same computer, they would get this error                        message.
However, if they are using the exact same computer/browser to log in yet they are       facing this error message, then someone must have removed its cookies.

Solution: The manager would have to delete the time clock location and terminal and re-create them.
