Objective
The objective of this tutorial is to help you understand how to create a custom shift under different basic and timeline views.

If you need to schedule a shift on the go, the Humanity Scheduling App has you covered.
Create custom shifts or use shift templates which saves you time when you need to schedule shifts that have a consistent start and end time. Instead of manually entering in custom shift details one-by-one, shift templates allow you to schedule a shift quickly and easily.
You can also speed up creating shifts with schedule templates to save a time.

Note: You can also create shifts from iPhone/iPad or Android Phone.
Things to know before you begin:
You must have a manager/admin, supervisor and scheduler access privileges to create shifts.
You can navigate the schedule to different dates by clicking the arrows found at top mid of the app.
You can create the schedule under different views expect list view with help of the icons listed on the right-hand side.
Auto-saved shift templates are only visible in the week / 2week / 4week view under ‘Employee and Position View’ only.
The scenario outlined in this tutorial consists of the following building blocks:
Create a Shift in Day Mode + Employee View
Create a Shift in Week Mode + Position View
Create a Shift in Visual View
Create a Shift in Day Mode + Employee View
Step 1: Click ‘ShiftPlanning’ tab from the top panel as shown in Image 1.

Step 2: Click ‘Schedule Overview’ from the left-hand side filter panel as shown in Image 2.

Step 3: Select ‘Employee View’. You can choose your preferred ‘Basic View’ under which you want to create the schedule as shown in Image 3.

Step 4: Click the calendar cell and it will create a draft shift that you can drag to adjust the shift start and end time as shown in Image 4.

Note: Draft shifts have lighter colours with lines in it.
Step 5: Click on the draft shift again to create a shift or double-click on the calendar cell to simply avoid creating a draft shift first as shown in Image 5.

Note: Once shifts are created, they have a solid colour.
Step 6: Click ‘Publish’ tab from the top right-hand side as shown in Image 6.

Create a Shift in Week Mode + Position View
Step 1: Click ‘ShiftPlanning’ tab from the top panel as shown in Image 7.

Step 2: Click ‘Schedule Overview’ from the left-hand side filter panel as shown in Image 8.

Step 3: Select ‘Position View’. You can choose your preferred ‘Basic View’ under which you want to create the schedule as shown in Image 9.

Step 4: Click ‘+’ to add a shift or click on the cell that corresponds to the date and time to create a shift as shown in Image 10.

Step 5: Click ‘Create Shift’ If you want to save the shift without publishing and notifying the employee

Click the auto-saved template and create a shift from shift template as shown in Image 11.

Step 6: Click ‘Publish’ tab from the top right-hand side as shown in Image 12.

Create a Shift in Visual View
Step 1: Click ‘ShiftPlanning’ tab from the top panel as shown in Image 14.

Step 2: Click ‘Schedule Overview’ from the left-hand side filter panel as shown in Image 15.

Step 3: Select ‘Visual View’ from the ‘Basic View’ to create the schedule as shown in Image 16.

Step 4: Click the calendar cell and it will create a draft shift that you can drag to adjust the shift start and end time before it is saved as a shift as shown in Image 17.

Step 5: Click on the draft shift again to save it as a shift or double-click on the calendar cell to simply avoid creating a draft shift first as shown in Image 18.

Notes:
The assigned employee won’t be able to see the shift or be notified until you ‘Publish’ the shift individually or ‘Publish’ the schedule.

Once you’re done creating the shift, you may also modify the shift details.
